Hello everyone! This has been such a wonderful year here at Post 69!

We have accomplished so many positive things. After so many years of talking about an LED Marquee, fixing the roof, as well as, the bathrooms (some of the doors still need work, yet) we have accomplished these. Members would talk about how “Back in the day” we had events and good crowds. We have regular events such as karaoke with potluck on Sundays and a DJ on Fridays. These draw a wonderful group of people. The Pool league is active and bringing people in. We have had many holiday celebrations at the Post which have been wonderful with good turnout. We have also had several successful events such as the New Year’s Eve Dinner and dance, which was a great success. The much anticipated, SAL Matanza, had a great turnout and raised a lot of funds. We just had a 50’s dance (Sock Hop) which was a lot of fun, with a lot of people attending. The Auxiliary is looking forward to having other such events. Our Lounge and Gaming are doing extremely well.

The Families and members of our Post 69 are working together and making Duran Y Gallegos, American Legion Post 69, a great success and the envy of many Posts. I am proud to let you know that as I travel the state and beyond, I am told what a wonderful, welcoming, friendly and clean Post we have. This can only be accomplished with the dutiful work of our members, staff, Families and officers. Thank you to each and every one of you! Let’s keep our Post moving forward and upward. Elections are quickly approaching for the Families of our Post. As with local, state and national elections, you make the difference.

I am looking into creating a “Get Out the Vote” program here at our Post. It is crucial to stay nonpartisan. The American Legion cannot endorse or support a specific party or candidate. Everyone should have the right to make their opinion known with their vote. Every vote, every citizen, every member and every individual matters and can make a change.

I am a very proud member of our Post, Honor Guard, and Executive Board. I very much appreciate the support of each and every one of you. Let’s continue to work together to keep our wonderful American Legion Post 69 Duran Y Gallegos Family, moving in an upward direction. We are the best and can be even better!

Blessings to all of you and prayers for the struggles, illnesses, and losses we are going through.

Your Friend and Commander,
Dee-Dee Chapman

On January 5th 2024, the American Legion Post 69 put up a brand new marquee in the front of the building replacing the old sign that was not safe for our members to be updating.  Funding for this new sign comes from a collaboration between the Sons of the American Legion and Legion. It is a welcome addition to the property giving the Post a modern look and is convenient and safe to update.

Post Commander Dee-Dee Chapman said; “I felt bad getting anyone to change the message on the old sign and was worried about possible injuries. I am very relieved to finally have this marquee project completed and I am extremely grateful for the collaboration between the families coming together to improve something that was seriously needed for a very long time. I feel that the new marquee will give more visibility to American Legion Post 69 and encourage more people to discover or rediscover our wonderful post that we are so proud of.”

The new Marquee looks incredible out in front!

Post 69 was fortunate to have a visit from our National Commander Jim Troiola in early 2023. Commander Troiola was kind enough to spend time with our Post leadership, staff and guests providing his insights.  Our Post Commander Dee Dee Chapman presented Commander Troiola with some items unique to our Post and our area.  We appreciate his visit and welcome him back in the future. Here are some photos of the event:
